Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Education Mental Health Practitioner / Children's Wellbeing Practitioner within our Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. The MHSTs sit within the BeeU Service inMidlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.

Since 2020, the MHST offer has grown year on year and we currently have five teams serving a number of schools across the region.

The Teams sit within the 'getting help' aspect of the Thrive model and work closely with our Bee U colleagues, who deliver specialist CAMHS and assessment services.You will be involved with supporting the implementation and development of the MHSTs, embedding our services within our designated schools. We work from clinic bases and schools across the region to ensure our service is accessible to as many children, young people and families as possible, so flexibility to travel is integral to this role.

You will work with your colleagues to deliver the three core functions of Mental Health Support Teams. You will hold a caseload, undertake assessments and offer brief evidence-based interventions for children and young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health needs. This will include one to one support and group work, with children, young people, parents and carers.

Main duties of the job

• To assist with the completion of initial, detailed and specific mental health assessments for children and young people.
• Agreeing areas for intervention and developing person centred plans of care in conjunction with children/young people and their families/carers.
• To provide focussed direct and indirect work for children, young people and their families as identified within their agreed person-centred care plan, within the education setting.
• To carry out individual or group therapeutic intervention with children, young people and parents as indicated within the child / young person's care plan.
• Agree and carry out planned reviews of care as required seekingunder the supervision of senior mental health support team clinicians.
• To have responsibility for documenting the plans of care and ensuring that plans remain current and that standards of record keeping are adhered to.
• Prepare and plan individual or group-based intervention for children, young people and parents including screening the child/young person for relevant groups.
• To support clinicians in implementing and coordinating the delivery of targeted and group-based interventions across the service.
