An opportunity has arisen to join our Forensic Mental Health Service. The post holder will provide an effective and efficient secretarial service to the multidisciplinary mental health team. The needs of the service user will be the utmost priority. The principle of high-quality customer care is at the heart of this role.

Working within the service can at times be a challenging environment, by way of telephone calls, visitors, meetings and numerous daily urgencies. The post holder requires the ability to work under pressure, with conflicting demands at times, and an understanding that they will encounter Criminal Justice related material.

If you have a willingness to assist others, the ability to provide a full range of office tasks, confidence in utilising various Microsoft Office packages, and the autonomy to plan and prioritise your own workload in a unique working environment - this could be the role for you.

Please note that this role is office based whilst undergoing a probationary period and thereafter will be a blend of office base and home working.

Main duties of the job

Provide a confidential and efficient word processing service, with the ability to convert reports and correspondence written by multidisciplinary team members from a variety of sources i.e. contemporaneous notes taken on a laptop, audio, shorthand and manuscript into professional and grammatically correct documents. Be able to prepare draft documents and correspondence on behalf of consultant forensic psychiatrist and other multidisciplinary team members from the Shropshire forensic mental health team and clinical staff on Yew ward.To assist in preparation of comprehensive formal reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals, Managers' Reviews, care co-ordination reviews, Annual Statutory Reports. These reports include details of case histories of forensic patients, and require ongoing concentration to transcribe.Co-ordinate timetables for specified meetings. Attend weekly multidisciplinary meetings and take contemporaneous minutes and dealing with any subsequent actions in respect of patient treatment plans, record correspondence received and actions to be taken by members of the clinical team. To update clinical team on information received from the Ministry of Justice and other agencies.Organise conferences, seminars, workshops and training events, booking of rooms, hotel accommodation, conference preparation and arranging refreshments from internal and external sources.To liaise and deal with enquiries from the medical and multidisciplinary team, outside agencies.
