We are recruiting to a 12-month fixed-term, full-time Senior Autism Peer Support Worker post (37.5 hours per week).
We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have:
Personal lived experience of being autistic, with an understanding of the complex and unique challenges autistic people face.
Previous experience as a Peer Support Worker, ideally within health and/or social care.
This role can be offered as a 12-month secondment for internal applicants or a 12-month Fixed Term Contract for external candidates.
The post sits within our CAMHS Intensive Support Team (Mental Health) in Shropshire, as part of a new multidisciplinary service supporting autistic children and young people experiencing significant distress and at risk of hospital admission.
Working within the THRIVE "Getting More Help" model, you will provide peer support to a small number of young people, their families and key stakeholders, helping to prevent poor health outcomes, reduce hospital admissions, so that people remain in their local communities, getting the right support.
Base options include Severnfields in Shrewsbury or Langley School in Telford.

Main duties of the job
To work with the multi-disciplinary team alongside newly appointed peer support workers to deliver support to those individuals accessing Intensive Mental Health Support Team within Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin CAMHS
To promote the use of a 'coaching' role to support children, young people and their families in developing personal person-centred support plans.
To act as a role model to children and young people to inspire hope, share life experiences and lessons learned as an autistic person.
To skilfully use personal experience of recovery or overcoming and embracing complexities relating to being autistic and developing a positive autistic identity to help motivate.
To provide high quality individual supervision to Autism Peer Support Workers in community services within the allocated location.
To support the team in promoting a neuro-affirming environment by identifying neuro-affirming activities and imparting information and education as required.
