Mental Health Liaison Practitioner

Job summary

The Shropshire Care group has two Mental Health Liaison (MHL) B6 opportunities. We are looking to employ qualified RMN/SW/OT B5/6 practitioners that have experience of assessing people who have experienced a Mental Health Crisis; knowledge of physical health conditions and how these can affect a person's presentation would be beneficial though not obligatory, we recognise that this can be part of a professional development plan. The role requires a robust clinician with good decision-making skills who can work independently and as part of a team and be available to work as part of a 24/7 rota and we would also be keen to support B5 practitioners move into a B6 role.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role are as follows;

  • to provide a 1 hour response to the A+E department when referrals are made for people who have attended and require mental health support and assessment.
  • to provide a 24 hr response to the wards in the hospital for people who have been admitted and need support and assessment of their mental health.
  • to support colleagues within the general hospital in their education and learning about mental health presentations and the role of the Mental Health Liaison Team.
