The closing date is 17 March 2026

Job summary

We are seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Band 7 Ward Manager to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our ward. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinically confident and compassionate leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care while nurturing a positive, motivated, and resilient team.

About the Role

As Ward Manager, you will provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care is delivered every day. You will work closely alongside the existing Ward Manager, who oversees operational and administrative functions, allowing you to focus on the clinical environment, staff development, and the overall culture of the ward.

This role requires flexibility to work a full range of shifts, including nights, to maintain visible leadership and support across the 24-hour service.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead by example in delivering high-quality clinical care and maintaining professional standards.
  • Provide visible, supportive leadership across all shifts, including nights.
  • Strengthen teamwork, morale, and communication within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and learning-focused ward culture.
  • Support staff through coaching, supervision, and development opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the operational Ward Manager to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in patient experience, safety, and outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of openness, accountability, and shared responsibility.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, and retention initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, safeguarding, and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the team's senior collective leadership, ensuring consistent standards, shared decision-making, and a unified approach to patient care.
