An opportunity has arisen to recruit a qualified ACP Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Mental Health Liaison Team

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated ACP who ideally has experience of working within a Mental Health Liaison Setting. The Royal Shrewsbury Mental Health Liaison Team is a multi-disciplinary service providing assessment, brief intervention and specialist support to people who attend a&e or are admitted to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

As a registered professional, you will be committed to providing a high-quality service and will support the development of our Mental Health Liaison Service whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Main duties of the job

  • The direct provision of high quality evidenced based person centred mental health care to service users within Royal Shrewsbury Hospital
  • Providing leadership in the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care to the wider multi-disciplinary service.
  • Facilitating learning through the development and delivery of specialist clinically focused education and training programmes.
  • Receive patients with both diagnosed and undiagnosed difficulties and make an assessment of their health care needs, based upon your highly developed nursing knowledge and skills which includes physical examinations skills.
  • Support in the coordination of the physical healthcare needs of mental health service users in the acute hospital.
  • Order necessary investigations, and provide treatment and care both individually, as part of a team, and through liaison with / referral to other agencies, e.g. ECGs, Clozaril Bloods.

Advanced clinical practice is delivered by experienced, registered health and care practitioners. It is a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a masters level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will therefore be required to embody the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. Provide autonomous clinical assessment and treatment, demonstrating clinical expertise at an advanced level, in both physical and mental health/LD for patients within the forensic mental health/LD setting

Provide advanced and expert level of practice (including non-medical prescribing), leading to improved patient outcomes

Provide clinical leadership and management leading to the provision of safe, quality, effective care
