Nurse Associate - CYP Eating Disorders

Job summary

This NHS provision has been developed to deliver a specialist community eating disorders service to children and young people aged 8 - 18 years across South Staffordshire. In this role you will be working as part of a highly experienced and close multi-disciplinary community team and will be supported by the service lead, consultant psychiatrist and a principal family psychotherapist. You will provide support to the team and wider systems, helping guide service development and delivery, and will help enable young people with their families in their recovery.

The MDT is skilled, forward thinking, friendly and highly supportive; delivering evidence-based treatments with young people and their families to provide the most effective treatment, which has influenced a high recovery rate. 100% of surveyed service users would recommend the service.

You will be supported by the senior clinical team and will work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

As a Nursing Associate you will work under the supervision from a registered nurse or other registered professional to provide high quality care and treatment as a member of the multi-disciplinary team informed by excellent communication, analysis of information, planning and organisational skills. You will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, providing nursing care and delivering all aspects of the nursing process.

Main duties of the job

o Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other registered care professional as appropriate.o Be accountable for own actions or omissions ensuring mindfulness of the NMC Code of Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates.o Demonstrate skills to maintain professional standards of record keeping.o Follow all information governance guidance, standards and policies.o Maintain confidentiality as outlined within data protection policieso Identify the need for policy development and or amendment to existing policies to ensure safe and effective inter-professional clinical care delivery.o Share ideas with colleagues to improve care and suggest areas for innovation.o Participate in audit activities being undertaken in area of practice or across the service.o Contribute to the improvement of service by reflecting on own practice and supporting that of others.o Adhere to legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines both local and national.o Regularly attend workplace and staff engagement meetings and contribute positively to discussions about the improvement of care.o Continue to develop and improve practical and theoretical knowledge, competence and skills and maintain all evidence required.o Contribute towards developing a culture of learning and innovation, developing high quality learning environmentso Awareness in relation to own security and lone working

  • Educated to a minimum level 5 Foundation degree level specific to Nursing Associate practice.
  • Care certificate

Desirable

  • Placement experience covering all four fields of nursing

Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non- verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi- disciplinary team.
  • Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting.
  • Intermediate IT skills including sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • The ability to use clinical systems such as RiO.
