Job summary
Are you a Qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP) looking to make a meaningful impact on the care and treatment of older people during their mental health inpatient stay? Do you want to support the dedicated teams working with service users and carers while utilising opportunities in teaching, research and service development?
Join our compassionate and collaborative older adults inpatient mental health team on Holly ward at the Redwoods centre in Shrewsbury, where we take pride in fostering a supportive, innovative and nurturing team culture.
You will be completing inpatient assessment, formulation and brief intervention work with individuals, groups and carers. There will be opportunities to facilitate and participate in reflective practice sessions and contribute towards staff well-being. Opportunities for MDT and joint working with nursing, allied health professionals and medical colleagues with patients, carers and the wider inpatient psychology team. Supervision is provided by our inpatient consultant, and there are opportunities for additional group supervision/ reflective practice sessions and peer support from other psychologists and assistants on site. We currently have 3 practitioner psychologists and 2 assistant psychologists in post at the Redwoods centre.

Main duties of the job
To provide an excellent standard of psychological and clinical input into Holly ward to meet the needs of inpatient service users experiencing acute mental health difficulties as part of a wider multi-disciplinary offer.
To provide psychological assessment, formulation and brief interventions to clients with a range of psychological presentations within the inpatient setting.
To work both autonomously and in consultation with colleagues, making appropriate decisions within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the employing organisation's policies and procedures.
To offer advice and consultation on service users' psychological care to clinical colleagues within the MDT and to other professionals as appropriate.
