Join our team as a Complex Trauma Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) within our established Ascend Service (Sexual Abuse and Assault Pathway) for 3 days a week, based in Cannock.
The Ascend Service is provided by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, North Staffordshire Combined NHS Trust, VCSE (Survive and Woman's Aid) and Staffordshire Police Crime Commissioner.
The team comprises of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, CBT Therapists, Assistant Psychologists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to work with patients presenting with sexual abuse complex trauma with responsibility for assessing patient suitability and delivering evidenced based, trauma focused interventions and clinical supervision.
You will be a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of demonstratable clinical experience of working with people experiencing trauma and will need clinical supervision training to deliver clinical supervision to the teams PWP's. Training in EMDR and/or experience of working in secondary care mental health services would be desirable.
Hours are 9-5. There may be an expectation to work flexibly between the hours of 8am-8pm Monday to Friday to meet service needs and in the future, on Saturday morningsApproximately 50% of the working week will be office based and 50% can be worked remotely across South Staffordshire.
Main duties of the job
Good communication skills and an informed clinical judgement are vital to this role as you will be liaising between primary and secondary sectors to facilitate referrals into the complex trauma pathway.
As part of this role, you will be expected to:
- Make decisions on the suitability of new referrals, identifying the most suitable service for the patient
- Formulate, implement and evaluate individual therapy programmes for patients that fall between Primary and Secondary services
- Attend Inter service meetings with regard to referrals
- Liaise with other health and social care staff from a range of agencies with a regard to referrals
- Promote and maintain links with services across the Trust to help co-ordinate provision of an effective Psychological Therapies Service
- Provide specialist advice to other professionals from the Trust and voluntary agencies in regard to our therapeutic service provision
- Contribute to the teaching and training of mental health professionals and other staff working in the service
