Job summary

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our Community Therapy Team as a Therapy Assistant Practitioner.

To support the development and growth of this team, we are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Band 4 Assistant Practitioner with an interest in aligning their skills working with patients who have a Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy needs, to join us to make a meaningful difference to people's lives within our community.

You will work as part of our team of experienced Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Assistant Practitioners and Assistants to carry out home based assessments and support the implementation of treatment plans for patients in the community. We are renowned for being an innovative and forward-thinking organisation with an ever-expanding portfolio of services.

You will be supported by qualified therapists, however, will be expected to work under your own initiative to manage a non-complex caseload of community patients appropriate to the role.

As an Assistant Practitioner joining our team, you will bring advanced knowledge, skills and a creative approach to support the ongoing development of the team and improve patient outcomes. Working within a wider multidisciplinary team, a flexible and collaborative approach is essential, not only to meet the changing needs of our own service but also to support other therapy services across East Staffordshire as required.

Main duties of the job

As an Assistant Practitioner under the supervision of a qualified Therapist you will be expected to work on your own and as part of a team focusing on excellent quality patient care, including formulating treatment goals and identifying rehabilitation plans.

As part of this role, you will be expected to:

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, show initiative and team spirit as well as committed to be patient care.

Be flexible and able to work in various locations in East Staffordshire, as the service requires.

Understand assessment and rehabilitation appropriate to the role.

Have good IT skills, knowledge and understanding of criteria for equipment provision.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with:

  • Keen interest & / or experience of working in rehabilitation services and can demonstrate an understanding of therapy and service needs.
  • Ability to assess new service user referrals and care/support needs.
  • Proactive in developing sound clinical skills in the assessment and management of patients in the rehabilitation & / or community environmentappropriate to the role.
  • To deliver a high standard of intervention, whilst managing the demands of unplanned aspects of the role.
  • To take accountability for allocated assessments, planning & implementation of interventions within their caseload.
  • Experience of when to escalate to a qualified team member.
