Job summary

TheShropshire, Telford and Wrekin CAMHS services into a new chapter, with a range of exciting job opportunities available.

Our newly developed CHARM (Children's Health and Resilience in Mental Wellbeing) Service will be an early intervention offer to children and young people with mild to moderate health and mental wellbeing problems.

The Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) provides brief, evidence-based, and outcome-focused psychological interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary Children's and Young Peoples Mental Health Service, you will conduct assessments, deliver low-intensity interventions, and support children, young people, and their families to develop practical coping skills.

The role includes close collaboration with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure care is holistic, accessible, and responsive. You will work within professional and ethical guidelines, engage in regular clinical supervision, and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.

You will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver evidence-based low-intensity interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties (e.g., anxiety, low mood, behavioural challenges).
  • Conduct initial assessments, formulate needs, and develop collaborative treatment plans.
  • Provide one-to-one and group interventions, face-to-face and/or through blended modalities, involving families where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, ensuring all documentation meets service and professional standards.
  • Monitor outcomes and progress, using routine outcome measures to inform ongoing support.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals to provide coordinated, strengths-based care.
  • Adhere to professional, ethical, and safeguarding guidelines set by relevant regulatory and governing bodies.
  • Engage in regular clinical supervision and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance practice
