Job summary

OurChildren and Young People Mental Health Team in Tamworth areseeking an experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join the Multi-Disciplinary Team. Our team includes as mix of Psychiatrists, Nursing, Social work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and support staff.

You will be part of wider Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) high quality, timely and comprehensive mental health service for children and young people (CYP) with a range of complex mental health needs. You will focus on evidence-based bio-psychosocial assessment and nursing specialist interventions, working towards evidence-based recovery. You will provide the co-ordination and collaboration in meeting the needs for a defined caseload working directly with CYP, their families/carers and external agencies.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist assessments of children and young people, based upon the appropriate use, interpretation & integration of complex data from a variety of sources.
  • To be responsible for implementing a range of clinical interventions for children and their families, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining formulations drawing upon different explanatory models.
  • To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options based on theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
  • To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and families.
  • To provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • To contribute directly and indirectly to improving the understanding of child and adolescent mental health.
  • To offer medication interventions where appropriate.

In the role you will:

  • take a lead role in the development of clinical services for young people accessing CAMHS services, including those identified as requiring additional consultation.
  • be an essential nursing member of the MDT and will be able to facilitate the co-ordination of care on a multi-disciplinary basis
