Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Mental Health Occupational Therapist - IMHT East Staffs

The closing date is 28 January 2026

Job summary

Are you a qualified Occupational Therapist looking for a new opportunity to work in an organisation that will help you develop and achieve your goals to become the best you can be? If so, you're in luck - Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity to join our Integrated Mental Health Team based in Burton on Trent.

The Integrated Mental Health teams work as part of a 'neighbourhood' offering place-based provision of mental health services in partnership with other local organisations. Clinicians within the IMHT will offer interventions and treatments which are concordant with NICE guidelines, and allocation within the team will be based on the needs of the service user, matching clinician skills to service user needs. The Neighbourhoods are guided by collective leadership, providing evidence-based psychological and medical interventions to patients with mental health difficulties. The patient's journey is guided by psychological formulation of their presenting needs and difficulties, which subsequently inform the development of a plan of care for the patient.

This role will require you to travel over a large geographical area, seeing service users in their homes as well as at base, so access to suitable transport is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • As a Registered Occupational Therapist you will be part of a team providing a specialist adult mental health service. The service will deliver a pathway of care in accordance with the latest evidence-base, which puts the service user's needs at the centre of the service.
  • Each team member will be responsible for supporting a culture of "wrapping the service around the person" and will need to work flexibly in order to ensure that pathways work together as a whole service, to meet the person's needs.
  • You will have a level of knowledge and expertise acquired through in-depth experience of mental health issues underpinned by extensive post registration experience to develop skills, knowledge and an excellent values base. There is an expectation that all work is underpinned by theoretical and technical knowledge, in addition to practical experience gained from a degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy and other relevant training. Clinical service delivery will incorporate a range of graded therapeutic interventions using occupational performance to address skill deficits enabling the client in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.
