The Children and Young Peoples Autism Service has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Therapy Practitioner to join the service.

The Assistant Therapy Practitioner will offer needs-led support and signposting to families and young people within the well-established CYP autism service.

This post is based in Anglesey House, Rugeley, but will include some potential for home visits to locations across South Staffordshire.

Main duties of the job

o Be competent as appropriate to the requirements of the role.o Demonstrate at all times the trust values.o Be responsible, under the guidance of a registered practitioner, for a defined population ofservice users in a variety of settings including clinics, schools, homeso Be skilled in supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of care/supportpackages under the direction of a registered practitioner.o Have supervisory responsibilities as required and contribute to service developments

  • NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or similar or demonstrate equivalent level of experience
  • Knowledge of autism acquired through formal training or experience

Desirable

  • Training in Autism assessment tools: ADIR / ADOS
  • Accredited training in Mental Health and/or Child Development and/or Neurodevelopment

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of supporting family/carers/children and young people coping with autism
  • Experience of working in Occupational Therapy / Speech and Language Therapy / Physiotherapy
  • Previous experience of working with children and young people with autism

  • Experience of contributing towards autism assessment in children and young people
  • Working of collaborative working as part of a multidisciplinary team
