Job summary

This role is based in the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin NHS Talking Therapies Service (IAPT) and it aims to develop the Step 2 service provision within NHS Talking Therapies

In the role you will offer evidence-based practice in guided self-help/low intensity CBT, assessing and treating our local population. Alongside this, you will support access into service for populations that we do not reach effectively, covering the Global Majority and Older Adult (65+) demographics. You will use special knowledge and experience in these areas to help organise, run and Step 2 therapy groups for specific populations, liaising with the 3rd Sector.

You will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and may be called upon to work in various community settings (including GP surgeries and other, 3rd sector, settings) and psychological treatment centres.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide assessment and Step 2 interventions, (psycho-educational interventions, Guided Self Help, computerised CBT) to patients registered with GP practices/health centres and or resident in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, drawing from CBT theories and techniques
  • Provide a service that is comprehensive and accessible to a broad range of patients who have commonplace mental health problems and who are over 16 years of age
  • To provide a service that is equitable and non-discriminatory in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and disability.
  • Develop specific group work within the community, liaising with Third Sector and other Health Organisations
  • Maintain a strong EDI focus internally within the team, as well as externally.
  • Have theoretical and practical clinical knowledge of Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as a strong understanding of Culturally Responsive practice.

Please note this is not a fully remote role and there is an expectation to mix home working with being able to physically be in base and support our service users face to face.
