Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Job summary

Successful candidates will be trained to deliver Low Intensity Psychological Interventions, which are the cornerstone of NHS Talking Therapies Services (formally known as IAPT).

Main duties of the job

You will be required to attend a minimum of 1 day teaching at Birmingham University, 1 day self-directed study and 3 days of clinical practice per week offering assessment and low intensity treatment to patients with common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety

The role is well supported with weekly case management and monthly clinical supervision with qualified clinicians. In addition to clinical contact, the role includes data collection/management, analysis, record keeping and community engagement activities.You must be able to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication, be able to establish good therapeutic relationships with people and be computer literate

Following successful completion of the course and achieving satisfactory performance levels, there will be an opportunity to transition into a Substantive Contract within the service. Once qualified you will be required to become a registered practitioner with either BABCP or BPS within 1 year

Applicants should have:

A degree in a relevant subject OR Advanced Level GCEs (A-C) or equivalent

Significant experience of working with adults who have experienced mental health difficulties.
