Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an 8b Applied Psychologist to join our CORE Mental Health Team and Crisis and Home Treatment Team for children, young people and their families in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. This post will be ideal for HCPC Registered Psychologists who have experience of working with children and families with complex mental health needs and are looking for career progression.

The CRHTT offers short term interventions and support to children who are at risk of harm to themselves or others. The CORE Mental Health Team provides a range of short- and long-term interventions for children and young people with mental health difficulties. We are seeking an Applied Psychologist to join in this newly developed in working across these two teams.

As a Psychologist, you will focus on providing highly specialist support to the MDT within the team, providing support, supervision and consultation to clinicians across the service and to external agencies.

The crisis team is based at Hall Court in Telford, and the Core Mental Health team has bases in Shrewsbury and Dawley, Telford.

  • BSc (Hons) in Psychology
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional areas of specialised psychological practice.

  • Additional CPD and training in one or more additional areas of psychological practice.
  • Expereince or training in one or more thearpeutic appraoches
  • Training of appraoches applicable to children, young peopple and their families

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience of working as a qualified psychologist with autistic inidivudal who are expereincing mental health problems; including assessment and clinical interventions for a wide range of presenting problems.
  • Experience in the delivery of trauma informed psychological care.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of service user groups across the whole life span, presenting with a range of mental health concerns of differing severity.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Experience of providing clinical consultation to other professional staff.
  • Expereince of working with high risk CYP's
