Job summary
The Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) are offering an exciting opportunity for a Speciality Doctor to join the service based in Stafford, Cannock & Seisdon.
We welcome applications from doctors with at least four years of postgraduate training, two of which must be in psychiatry and at least one year working in an adult community mental health team setting, which could include specialist teams.
You will be welcomed and well supported by a full multi-disciplinary team including consultant Psychiatrists, Advanced Nurse Practitioner's, Nurse Practitioners, CPN'S, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers to provide medical psychiatric support across both inpatient and community settings. Inpatient services are located at St George's Hospital, Stafford.
Additionally, we work closely with our colleagues in the voluntary sector who have specialist knowledge in benefits, community inclusion, housing and wellbeing who have proven invaluable in contributing to the recovery of those accessing our services.
You will provide medical support to the Integrated Mental Health Teams and manage service users from a medical perspective to ensure delivery of safe and high-quality services.
This role is part-time, 8 PA's per week (4 days)
Main duties of the job
As Speciality Doctor you will provide medical support to the Integrated Mental Health Teams and to manage service users from a medical perspective to ensure delivery of safe and high-quality services.
You will undertake assessments of service users referred by the various stakeholders to the Integrated Mental Health Teams within the referral to treatment target set by NHS England. There will be four dedicated outpatient clinics or routine home visit sessions per week. Each clinic is expected to have 1 new and 4 follow up patients, although this may vary.
As part of this role, you will be required to:
- Undertake a full medical assessment of all referred service users.
- Interpret, diagnose and process pathology test results and ECGs and establish appropriate management.
- Ensure prescribing practice is based on current evidence and good practice and compliant with local policies and guidelines.
- Ensure the confidentiality of service user related information and records and comply with Information Governance standards.
- Involve service users, families and carers in care planning, as appropriate.
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary approach managing the health needs of the service users using evidence-based practice.
