Are you an experienced Employment Advisor seeking a new and exciting opportunity? If so, we have a fantastic role available that may be of interest to you. We are currently recruiting for several Employment Adviser positions, focused on assisting individuals with mild to moderate mental health issues, to gain or retain employment.

The successful candidate will work with a diverse population, aged 16 and above, who are receiving support from Talking Therapies. The EA will provide tailored employment support, that varies depending on the client's specific needs. This will involve supporting individuals to gain employment, helping clients with in-work issues to remain in employment, and providing guidance to those who have been off sick to return to work. The job role will also include helping clients to gain training and volunteering work, delivering careers advice and guidance, and promoting our service to employers and network partners.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage a caseload of people of people who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues, to enable them to retain or gain paid employment.
  • To work as an Employment Advisor, being responsible for those clients who are wanting to move into employment, education or voluntary work.
  • To provide specialist support to enable clients to make the successful transition from unemployment or further education to paid employment.
  • To prepare individuals for employment through assessing each person's employment needs.
  • To provide individualised, support to clients once they have secured employment to assist them in sustaining employment.
  • To provide advice and support to employers, which may include negotiating adjustments and on-going support with the employer to ensure job retention
  • To work in the community, delivering face-to-face appointments to clients, as well as telephone and video appointments.
  • To work within Talking Therapies and promote the Employment Support Service to therapists and other staff.
  • To work flexibly as required by the individual and the employer which may require some working out of 'normal office' hours.

Working in close collaboration with Talking Therapies staff, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality employment support, for individuals with anxiety disorders and depression. There are positions available in various locations across Staffordshire, including Newcastle-Under-Lyme Borough, Leek, Tamworth, Burton.

To excel in this role, you must have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work well in a team, and prioritise tasks effectively while remaining flexible and responsive to clients' needs. If you are passionate about helping individuals with mental health challenges gain meaningful employment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

To be successful in this role, you will need to build strong relationships with mainstream education providers and employers to secure education and employment opportunities while providing ongoing support. You will also liaise with Job Centre Plus, Trade Unions, and DWP as necessary.

Duties include -

  • Having regularly appointment sessions with clients, to assist them with their employment support needs.
  • Meet regularly with practitioners and therapists to co-ordinate and integrate vocational services into psychological therapies.
  • To proactively engage and work with employers and further education providers to ensure effective individualised supports are in place for clients.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with other organisations that are able to help individuals to achieve their education / employment goals for example, local colleges and training providers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with service users, carers, staff and other professionals, with particular attention to confidentiality and the maintenance of boundaries.
  • To demonstrate compassion and an understanding of the wider issues that surround a person and their family, when they suffer from an anxiety disorder and/or depression.
  • To produce written reports, progress notes and assessments on the Talking Therapies clinical system relating to the area of specialism and in line with trust protocols.
  • To use specialist skills to assist an individual in conveying pertinent information when completing application forms and CVs.
