Job summary
This post is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary Community Paediatric team , carrying out the assessment, supporting diagnosis and management of children with special needs/developmental difficulties, neurodevelopment conditions and other complex needs. This includes an expectation of independent prescribing as part of a clinical management plan.
The service provision neurodevelopmental conditions is currently under review and you will help to develop and deliver innovative approaches to clinical management.
You will be able to work both independently and also be an effective team member, contributing to a multi disciplinary approach to clinical management , working with colleagues from services within the Children and Families Care Group and the wider partnership, including schools and the voluntary sector.

Main duties of the job
You will work with colleagues from the Community Paediatrics team to assess and manage children with special needs/developmental difficulties, neurodevelopment conditionsand associated conditions.
You will act as a Non- medical prescriber for ADHD and sleep related medicines, in line with NMC, NICE and national guidelines around medicines optimisation prescribing.
You will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with Consultant Paediatricians and other health professionals.
You will work closely with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive inclusive and expert assessment of children referred to the service.
You will take the lead in preliminary assessments of new referrals using the agreed assessment tools and analysis of the resulting information. Undertake and record observations within schools, clinics, and home settings.
You will be a first point of contact for queries, giving advice and signposting to outside agencies in supporting children, young people, their families/carers, schools, and other professionals,
You will liaise with internal services such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), Social Care and Health and education to provide a holistic approach to care.
You will work with colleagues in the design, development, and implementation of a rolling programme of parent education, delivered both in groups and individually in a range of settings.
