Specialist Physiotherapist - Specialist Pelvic Health

Job summary

You will provide a diagnosis of an individual's continence condition and agreeing courses of action following assessment to address health and wellbeing needs of individuals with the supervision of the Specialist Pelvic Health Nurses.

Main duties of the job

As part of this role you will also be required to:

  • Be skilled in supporting clients who require containment management, to prescribe the appropriate appliances.
  • Maintain and develop skills and knowledge in relation to continence promotion and management, to deliver a range of interventions and set an example of good practice to other team members including skill sharing.
    • Complete a Basic and/ or Specialist Continence assessment (dependent on client need) with clients to formulate, treatment programs, supporting from families and carer's when appropriate.
    • Evaluate the treatment programs with clients, referring to the Physiotherapy Clinical Lead in the team as required. Plans may include the following:- Promoting independence/self-management and maintaining safety- Assessing pelvic floor strength and teaching basic pelvic floor exercises- Bladder retraining- Bowel re-training Diet and Fluid advice- Bladder scanning Teaching ISC/ supporting patients with ISC- Prescribing Containment equipment-Prescribing Containment products- Improvement in health and wellbeing including mental health Interventions in disease/condition management|- Prevention and reducing of health inequalities
