Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a HCPC Registered Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Discharge to Assess (D2A) team in a Band 5 developmental role based in North Staffordshire.

As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist working in a developmental role, you will have to opportunity to be supported by the team to achieve a development framework and following successful completion of preceptorship would provide an opportunity to progress to a Band 6 role within the team.

You will be providing a service for all the (North)Staffordshire Discharge to Assess Beds (D2A); covering Haywood Hospital and D2A care homes. The work is varied and will involve individual caseload work, assessments, planning interventions with service users, duty work, supervision of support worker staff

This is a varied role that will allow you to develop the key skills required for working in a busy team whilst offering supervision and preceptorship to allow you to gradually gain confidence and skills.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be expected to travel independently over a large geographical area within Staffordshire to effectively and efficiently deliver services. Ideally, you will have a valid driving licence and access to a car.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist you will be expected to:

  • Promote the philosophy of self-care and the promotion of independence whilst offering rehabilitation and assessment. Specialist rehabilitation services are a highly complex area of the care, and the post holder will act as an autonomous professional
  • Be skilled in the assessment of preventative treatment/support needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of agreed goals. Dependent on level of experience post holders may be expected to support supervision / education of unregistered members of staff and OT students, and to support students from other professions who work in the team.
