Job summary
Do you have experience with the delivery of mental health/ wellbeing advice and support to children, young people and their families? Or experience of working with children & young people with common mental health difficulties and behavioural needs?
The Mental Health Support Teams sit at the 'getting help' aspect of the Thrive model and work closely with the different pathways as part of the Children's Mental Health Function.
In the role you will be expected to contribute to assessments and undertake planned interventions with children, young people and their families as directed by qualified practitioners within MHST and/or Supervising Practitioners.
You will be responsible for working with colleagues in enabling schools to develop and embed their mental health and wellbeing strategies. This includes liaising with teaching staff and associated roles within the education setting, as well as with partner services and agencies. They will be involved in early identification and intervention of mental health need as well as delivering emotional health and wellbeingpromotion activities.
Main duties of the job
- To prepare, plan and carry out individual or group therapeutic interventions with children, young people and parents as indicated within the child / young person's care plan, with supervision and guidance from qualified practitioners.
- Complete planned reviews of care as requiredunder appropriate supervision.
- To be responsible for documentation and ensure that standards of record keeping are adhered to.
- To participate in and facilitate parent support and parenting skills groups.
- To participate in completing and reviewing risk assessments of the child/young person in terms of behaviour or mental health in relation to their circumstances, with guidance and supervision from qualified practitioners.
- Take prompt action to communicate any changes in condition, liaising with other members of the team, reviewing and amending the risk assessment/care plan as directed
You will deliver and contribute to the development of evidence based brief interventions on a range of health, lifestyle and behaviour related issues under the direction of the qualified practitioners and/or Supervising Practitioner. This may include: providing brief advice, co-deliver group interventions, guided self help, signposting, creating and distributing resources, assisting with delivery of WSA activities and supporting the development and delivery of our digital offer
