Welcome! An exciting opportunity has arisen within The Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Talking Therapies service for a highly motivated Cognitive Behavioural Therapist or Clinical Psychologist who has specialised in CBT to join our multi-disciplinary team.

The Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin NHS Talking Therapies Service is a busy caring team consisting of Administration staff, PWPs, CMHPs, CBT Practitioners and Counsellors. We deliver Talking Therapies to the people of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin which has exciting, diverse and growing modern towns, surrounded by the stunning Shropshire countryside.

Our NHS Talking Therapies team is a great place to work and we are looking for your help to continue the ongoing development and expansion of the service.

Due to funding terms outlined by NHS England we are unable to offer this opportunity to anyone currently working within NHS Talking Therapies. If you are a High Intensity CBT Therapist who has trained within IAPT / NHS Talking Therapies but does not currently work in an NHS Talking Therapy Service we would welcome your application.

MPFT will offer a welcome bonus of 10% of first year salary- at 50% on commencement of employment and 50% following 12 months employment.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be part of a team of clinicians whose responsibility is to provide psychological services for people with common mental health problems in primary care across designated venues within Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, according to population need.
  • You will be responsible for the delivery of high intensity psychological interventions delivered at step three of the stepped care model of service delivery. Clinical provision includes assessment, formulation and time-limited evidence-based interventions within primary care as and when appropriate.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining an individual caseload, working independently and using your own initiative. You will be accountable for the direct delivery of clinical work where there is a frequent requirement for intense concentration and frequent exposure to highly charged emotional circumstance.
  • You will be required to attend regular supervision, maintain mandatory training compliance and continue professional development.
  • You will be required to hold or be actively working towards professional accreditation with the BABCP.
  • You will be working with Staff, Service Users and Carers from different cultural backgrounds, ages, difference and diversity, and should be committed to culturally sensitive practice and offering equality of opportunity.
  • You must be willing and able to travel to various clinic spaces across the locality.
