Job summary
An exciting opportunity is available to join our Urgent Care team as a NMC Registered Band 7 Senior Nurse Practitioner working across both the Walk in Centre based at the Haywood Hospital and Leek Minor injuries Unit based in North Staffordshire.
The Haywood Walk in Centre and Leek Minor Injuries unit provide urgent care facilities including X-ray and see approx. 80,000 patients per year. We provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries and illness for both Adults and Children.
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Nurse Practitioner who will provide first contact and follow up consultations to patients who attend the department and deliver a swift and quick assessment of the patient's condition followed by streaming and redirecting patients to teams and services as required.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality Senior Nurse Practitioner service, ensuring that clinical care is organised to meet the needs of the individual whilst ensuring patient safety, whilst providing and delivering specialist care to patients with minor injuries/illnesses.
You will be working in a fast-paced environment, and you will be expected to work within agreed timeframes whilst delivering an exceptional level of care.
We are a 365 day/ 7 day per week service and you will be required to work flexibly on a shift basis. The nurse practitioner is flexible, and you will be required to provide support over a range of service/functions.
Main duties of the job
As Senior Nurse practitioner you will be responsible for the assessment of adults and children with minor injuries and illness and ensure the efficient use of resources by implementing, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of care provision using evidence-based practice.
As part of this role, you will be expected to:
- diagnosis injuries and illness autonomously
- prescribe medication as required for adults and children
- requesting investigations for adults and children
- managing flow through the department
- managing staff and colleagues on shift
- managing performance on the day
- ensuring staff and patient safety
