Job summary

We are excited to be recruiting for a Principal Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to take a leadership and clinical role within the Seisdon Integrated Mental Health Team.

The Integrated Mental Health Team is multidisciplinary and the psychological professions within the team include psychological therapists, clinical associates in psychology and assistant psychologists. You will be working across two bases, Codsall and Wombourne.

You will play a key role in the next phase of the development of the team. We would encourage applications from suitably experienced Psychologists who have experience of leadership, service development and have supervisory experience in the field of adult community mental health. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high quality, specialised, evidence-based psychological interventions for service users requiring input from the Integrated Mental Health Team. To promote psychological thinking and working by offering consultation, assessment, formulation, teaching and training. We have a number of service development projects across the IMHTs and you will be strongly encouraged to contribute towards and taking a leadership role where appropriate for research, audit and service development activities. You will be an active member of the team leadership and MDT supporting service development, delivery and evaluation.

Main duties of the job

- The systematic provision of a psychology service to people with complex mental health needs served by the service. This is to involve providing specialist psychological assessments, leading to psychological formulations of distress; interpretation and opinion; and forming clinical judgements to inform service provision and providing necessary psychological interventions. This will include, when appropriate, fulfilling the role of Care Co-ordinator.

- Provide input to the IMHT, and acting as a member of, the multidisciplinary Team (MDT).

- To attend team meetings and contribute to the team's processes and functions and to liaise and work with the team(s) as agreed with the IMHT Consultant Clinical Psychologist and IMHT Service Manager.

- Supervising and supporting the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other clinical members of the service who provide psychologically based care and intervention. To include the provision of training placements for Psychologists in Training as required.

The successful candidate will be required to offer clinical training placements as well as contributing to other programme activity e.g., teaching and supervising research etc.

There is a large supportive group of psychology staff working across the trust. You will have access to individual clinical supervision as well as some group-based model supervision for those delivering specific interventions within the service (e.g. EMDR, ISTDP, MBT). You will have professional leadership from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and there will be opportunities to work alongside and be supported by a strong network of Psychologists. CPD relevant to the role will be available and encouraged. The Trust has a robust in-house Super Series Leadership training programme. Training and interests are further supported through a range of supervision and interest groups, and a collaborative appraisal process.

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
