Job summary

Are you passionate about nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals? We are currently in search of a dedicated Clinical Placement Facilitator to fulfil a pivotal role within our organisation. In this dynamic position, you will be responsible for co-ordinating high-quality nursing, Trainee Nursing Associates (TNA), and Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) clinical placements. Your role will involve extensive networking and collaboration with service providers and Higher Education Institutes to ensure a seamless and enriching learning experience for our students. As a vital member of our team, you will contribute significantly to the success of healthcare student placements, annual monitoring processes, and the development of action plans to support students during their placements. If you are an NMC registered nurse with clinical expertise and a passion for education, we invite you to join our team.

While this role primarily focuses on non-clinical responsibilities, it holds a critical function in providing support and guidance to both students and clinical staff. As a Clinical Placement Facilitator at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, your responsibilities include:

  1. Facilitate Quality Clinical Placements: Ensure the provision of high-quality clinical placements, fostering growth and development among healthcare trainees.
  2. Curriculum Development: Actively engage with HEIs to contribute to curriculum development, aligning local courses with professional registration requirements at degree and foundation degree levels, pre-registration programs, and specialist practice awards.
  3. Curricula Familiarity: Stay informed about curricula for student placements, guaranteeing they meet the necessary learning outcomes and assessment processes. Coordinate placements effectively across the Trust for the benefit of students and clinical staff.
  4. Supervisor and Mentor Support: Contribute to the development and oversight of mechanisms that prepare, update, and support practice supervisors and practice assessors, ensuring their effectiveness.
  5. Compliance and Collaboration: Ensure compliance with contractual obligations related to student support and standards, working closely with education and service providers to review and enhance learning environments.
  6. Expand Placement Opportunities: Collaborate with the Clinical Placement Quality Lead and key stakeholders to identify and cultivate new placement opportunities, including non-traditional areas for students.
  7. Reporting: Contribute to reports for Committees, offering insights into student evaluations and the quality assurance of student placements.
  8. Risk Mitigation: Identify and communicate risks within the team, actively participating in the development of mitigation strategies.
  9. Data Analysis: Analyse management information to enhance both team and individual performance.
  10. Project Participation: Contribute to projects and lead specific elements as needed.
  11. Conflict Resolution: Effectively resolve conflicting priorities within the team, finding solutions that promote productivity.
  12. Team Support: Play a role in the induction of new team members, providing ongoing support during local induction.
  13. University Collaboration: Engage in meetings with universities to assess and improve the quality and effectiveness of placements, taking prompt action to address any identified individual, systemic, or process failures.
