Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Podiatry Assistant to join our Community Podiatry Services Team at Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust. The post is full time and will require the post holder to be flexible and able to work in a variety of locations across the Trust, as the service requires.
You will be working with senior qualified podiatrists and independently to carry out treatments for patients including health promotion. The post holder will be required to deliver high quality professional care within a variety of patient settings including; Health Centres, Clinics, Hospitals, Medical Practices, Residential Settings and Patients Homes.
Main duties of the job
You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, initiative and team spirit, as well as be committed to patient care, assisting them in achieving their maximum potential. You will be encouraged to take part in various CPD activities including clinical support, in house training during team meetings.
You should have the ability to travel around the district.

- To contribute to the assessment and implementation of programmes of treatment care/support for individuals, families and carers under the guidance of a HCPC registered Podiatrist. The care/support plans may include the following:

To maintain sensitivity at all times to the emotional needs of the service user and their carers offering reassurance and empathy. This may be in regard to the nature/prognosis of their condition and implications of the same.
- To work with individuals and carers who may find it difficult to engage with the service or aspects of the service resulting in uncooperative or challenging behaviour that has to be managed.
- To take responsibility for the safe use and transportation of equipment between locations.
- To work in non-purpose built rooms involving the necessity to move furniture, therapy equipment etc. This may be required on a daily basis or at least once a week
- To make resources for use in therapy/care taking direction from HCPC registered Podiatrist when required.
- To use problem solving and innovation to deliver a high standard of intervention within competences whilst managing the demands of unplanned aspects of the role where appropriate.

- Care Certificate is completed in all 15 areas within 12 weeks (pro rata) of commencement of contract.
