Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

This role will have specific objectives for the six months related to key trust wide and care priority objectives, responding to risk, patient/ stakeholder feedback and key performance metrics. Through these focussed areas of work, responsibilities will include;

Leading on improvement projects to support trust-wide or care group priority objectives

Collaborate with the risk management team to help mitigate risks using QI methodology

Support clinicians to free up time to re-invest into patient care

Coach, mentor, and teach clinicians

Provide coaching to clinical staff members in the effective evaluation and enhancement of processes by traveling to various locations.

Requirements:

Previous Quality Improvement Experience

Evidence of Quality Improvement training

Completion of in-house Leading Quality Improvement training (or willingness to complete it)

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Commitment to NHS England's Net Zero targets

Job responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist training in Quality Improvement skills, tools and techniques to staff at all levels across the organisation, including developing and delivering SusQI

Facilitate events/ deliver training both face to face and online using MS Teams/ Zoom and other software packages as required

Lead the delivery of the First Steps in QI training programme and the Leading QI training programme and other teachings on an ad hoc basis with teams as required (including evaluation of the programmes and providing mentoring to staff as required during their project activities) including developing and delivering SusQI materials and projects

Support the delivery of the Master in QI training teaching as required

  • Provide VMPS-specific and QI project management advice to clinicians, managers and staff at all levels

Project manage/ workshop lead/ facilitate patient centred Quality Improvement Events (QIEs) including the design and planning of events in collaboration with the Care Groups ensuring clear aims and measures for improvement are identified.

Provide advice/ guidance to new/ inexperienced QI facilitators to facilitate events

Deliver improvements through facilitation, engagement of stakeholders, analysis, planning and project management

Support staff to undertake a range of QI initiatives, and help teams to agree on practical proposals for change using the Trusts QI principles and methodology

In co-ordinating QI projects and work streams, liaise and engage with staff and support their development in the use of QI methodologies, ensuring QI and best practice tools and techniques are applied in a consistent manner

Manage the governance processes to support the sustainability of Quality Improvement Events (QIE) which have taken place

Promote a culture of putting the people who use our services at the centre of everything we do

Deliver the improvement projects congruent with the CI strategy and Trust objectives, ensuring the production of clear project management and benefit delivery plans

Contribute to the development of a culture of quality improvement to deliver improved quality and delivery of patient care and related services.
