An opportunity has become available for an experienced Allied Health Professional (AHP) to join the Children's Mental Health Senior Leadership Team, as AHP professional lead for up to 22.5 hours per week fixed term to 31/10/2025. The post holder will be responsible for providing professional leadership for Mental Health AHPs across the Care Group, in accordance with Trust values, ensuring the delivery of effective, efficient, and high-quality services for patients and their families/carers.
The AHP professional lead is accountable to the Director of AHPs and an integral member of the Trust wide AHP professional leadership team. The AHP professional leadership team is responsible for delivering AHP strategy and priorities into the care group, to support high quality effective AHP practice.
The successful candidate will be a HCPC registered AHP and have Mental Health experience. They will be committed to improving the lives of our young people and families. They will have excellent communication skills and will be a compassionate and value-based leader.
Main duties of the job
- Assess people's occupational performance needs, in relation to mental health needs, including risk. Assessment, intervention evaluation is based on highly developed specialist clinical AHP knowledge and skills
- Plan, coordinate/deliver and evaluate the interventions and highlight any changes to delivery required to meet the agreed/anticipated outcomes.
- Provide assessment and interventions both individually, as part of a team, and through liaison with/referral to other agencies.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate specialist packages of care, using Care Programme Approach (CPA) where applicable, working in partnership with others, delegating and referring as appropriate to optimise health outcomes and resource use.
- Draw on a diverse range of knowledge in making decisions to determine evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Use professional judgement in managing complex and unpredictable care events and capture the learning from these experiences to improve patient care and service delivery.
- Support and develop AHP staff knowledge, skills and competencies through role modelling best practice, through joint working, professional supervision, mentoring or coaching as required.
