An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Urgent Care team as a NMC Registered Band 5 Triage Nurse working across both the Walk in Centre based at the Haywood Hospital and Leek Minor injuries Unit based in North Staffordshire.

The Haywood Walk in Centre and Leek Minor Injuries unit provide urgent care facilities including X-ray and see approx. 50,000 patients per year. We provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries and illness for both Adults and Children.

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic Triage Nurse who will provide first contact to patients who attend the department and deliver a swift and quick assessment of the patient's condition followed by streaming and redirecting patients to teams and services as required.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment and you will be expected to work within agreed timeframes whilst delivering an exceptional level of care.

We are a 365 day/ 7 day per week service and you will be required to work flexibly on a shift basis however we will consider requests for flexible working in line with requirements of the service.

Main duties of the job

As a Triage Nurse in our service will be expected to triage and assess patients on arrival to the Walk in Centre/Minor Injuries and use decisive decision making to direct the patient further as required.

As part of this role you will be expected to:

  • Triage and complete patient observations
  • provide emergency care
  • Process X-ray requests
  • Provide streaming and redirection of patients
  • Communicate and work closely with other members of the MDT
