Job summary

- To support the Digital Transformation Lead Technician.
- To support the development and analysis of reports relating to medicines expenditure.
- Use data analysis to assess and detect trends and variations in the utilisation of specific medicines across the Care Groups.
- To support with delivering and auditing a training programme for IT, pharmacy and other healthcare professionals in the use of electronic prescribing and other associated systems.
- To promote new ways of working and to report any pharmacy risks and issues to the Head of Pharmacy Digital Improvement & Innovation.
- To support the provision of specialist pharmacy technical input in to the electronic prescribing and medicines administration system (EPMA) and medicine management systems across MPFT.
- Contributing towards both operational and strategic development.
- Support the development of the Discharge Medicine Service (DMS).
- Line management responsibility for the pharmacy data clerk.
- To support the Clinical Trials team.
- Support for the formulary pharmacist to include shared care and PDG development.
- To provide support for the training of trainee pharmacists and technicians.
- To support the development and maintenance of the pharmacy webpage and social media accounts.
- To support the implementation of new technologies.
- To support specialist tenders as required.
Main duties of the job
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Coordinating the day-to-day provision of pharmacy data services.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of EPMA across the Trust.
- To support with technical aspects of Pharmacy Digital systems across the Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust (MPFT).
- To work with the Digital Improvement and Innovation team to translate clinical needs into digital solutions within the Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation department.
- Leading the analysis, development and provision of reports on medicines expenditure, using complex data sets that require interpretation and comparison of a range of options to inform decision making by the pharmacy team, clinicians, Care Groups and committees. Ensure that all data and information is communicated in a meaningful way.
- To support the development of the Discharge Medicine Service (DMS) and the development and implementation of other medicines optimisation technological developments.
- To support the development of policies and SOPs with regard to electronic prescribing and pharmacy stock control systems to ensure safe medication practice.
- Line Management of Junior staff.
- To provide dispensary /Clinical/ Accuracy Checking Technician support (ACT) support to the dispensaries as required.
- To support the Clinical Trials/Medicines Information Lead Pharmacy technician in the maintenance of the Clinical Trials service at MPFT.
