Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the well-established Osteoporosis Service at the Midlands Metabolic Bone Centre due to the expansion of the service. The Osteoporosis Service incorporates Medical Metabolic Bone Clinics, Nurse Led and Allied Health Professional Led clinics; Bone Densitometry Scanning and the Fracture Liaison Service. There are an estimated half a million fragility fractures in the UK each year. The aim of Fracture Liaison Services (FLSs) is to ensure that patient's over the age of 50 who have had a fragility fracture are identified, investigated, treated, provided with information and monitored. The FLS at the Midlands Metabolic Bone Centre has received international recognition from the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) by gaining Gold star status on the Best Practice Framework For Secondary Fracture Prevention. The service currently covers both Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire.
Main duties of the job
To be a skilled practitioner participating in the delivery of quality care to patients who are referred to the Fracture Liaison Service/Osteoporosis service. In order to deliver care closer to patient's homes, cross site working between the Haywood and other MPFT sites may be required.
