Main duties of the job

  • You will work under the supervision from a registered nurse or other registered professional to provide high quality care and treatment as a member of the multi-disciplinary team informed by excellent communication, analysis of information, planning and organisational skills.
  • Be accountable for own actions or omissions ensuring mindfulness of the NMC Code of Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates.
  • Monitor the condition and health needs of people within their care on a continual basis in partnership with patients/service users, families and carers and other health professionals.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act / Deprivation of Liberties and applies principles to everyday practice seeking advice / guidance from the Registered Nurse or registered care professional as required.
  • Support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting.
  • Demonstrate skills to maintain professional standards of record keeping.
  • Share ideas with colleagues to improve care and suggest areas for innovation.
  • Participate in audit activities being undertaken in area of practice or across the service.

The overriding purpose of the role of Nursing Associate is to support the provision of the highest quality patient/client care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

As a Nursing Associate in the team, you will have a breadth of knowledge and skills providing holistic and person centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. You will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, providing nursing care and delivering all aspects of the nursing process. This includes undertaking a full range of routine care and treatment tasks as directed by the registered nurse within the Integrated Mental Health Team with patients/ service users who are experiencing mental health related difficulties. This will include observations and reporting on patients conditions.

The Integrated Mental Health teams work as part of a 'neighbourhood' offering place based provision of mental health services in partnership with other local organisations. Clinicians within the IMHT will offer interventions and treatments which are concordant with NICE guidelines, and allocation within the team will be based on the needs of the service user, matching clinician skills to service user needs.

This role will be Monday-Friday, 9-5. As the role will require you to travel to service users homes for appointments, you will need access to suitable transport to travel across a large geographical area.
