Job summary

As the Consultant Psychologist within the Telford & Wrekin Community Mental Health Service you will be part of the Senior Management Collective Leadership Team , ensuring the provision of an effective and integrated Psychological Service.

The Specialist Mental Health Psychology Team includes B8b and B8a psychologists, psychological therapists and Trainee Clinical Associates in Psychology. As part of Community Mental Health Transformation we also have introduced a new and developing Primary Care Psychology Service.

We provide supervision and training to the Clinical and Counselling Doctoral Programmes at Wolverhampton and Staffordshire Universities and we are involved with the development of the Trainee Clinical Associate in Psychology training programme at Keele University.

Additional leave can be negotiated on appointment. The appointing manager can offer up to a maximum of 5 days additional annual leave during the current annual leave year

Relocation expenses - Can be negotiated up to a maximum of £8,000, (up to £8,000 is not taxable) subject to terms and conditions.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of the Telford locality and Trust wide psychological therapies to manage demand, to design, pilot and deliver evidence based therapy programmes, and to contribute of the development of psychologically informed mental health provision across services.
  • To provide regular support, advice and consultation on all aspects of psychological practise to psychological therapists, multi-disciplinary staff and carers with a special focus on Psychological therapies for people with severe mental health problems as set out in the NHS Long Term Plan specifically emotional regulation difficulties, severe OCD and depression, trauma, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. (PTSD).
  • To exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practise within the Locality and, working with other leads and managers, within the wider services.
  • To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of psychologists and psychological therapists.
  • To represent psychology at relevant policy and service provision meetings and at Trust and strategic meetings as required.
  • To be part of Senior Psychologists Group and attend these meetings as well as Care Group Psychology Meetings.

As Consultant Psychologist with Telford Community Mental; health Service you would be part of collective leadership, be the lead for psychology and work with the MDT and psychology colleagues.
