Job summary
The Paediatric Podiatry Service in South Staffordshire is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 4 podiatry technician to join our team at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. The role is a permanent contract for 22.5 hours per week.
The successful applicant will be based at Stafford Central Clinic. They will be primarily responsible for the day to day running of the appliance laboratory, covering the process from receipt of prescriptions to manufacture and dispatch. They will utilise appropriate equipment to manufacture the insoles and orthotics as prescribed by the clinician. They will be responsible for stock management within the central appliance lab store and peripheral locations utilising the IT system, undertaking stock audits quarterly. In accordance with the development of service clinical pathways, it is expected that you will receive training to assist the clinician in clinic with fitting and reviewing orthotics, assisting review of exercise programmes and taking history for new patient assessments.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job will be to oversee the day-to-day running of the appliance laboratory, covering the process from receipt of prescriptions to manufacture and dispatch. Ensuring orthotics are manufactured to the highest standard and dispatched to patients in a timely manner. You will be responsible for managing stock within the appliance lab and at peripheral clinical sites. You will also be responsible for assisting the clinician in clinic.
