Job summary

Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) is expanding its psychology led community mental health services.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Practitioner Psychologist to join our team as a Principal Psychologist working in the South East of England.

Our Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR) Teams provide psychological assessments and short term psychological interventions for common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

As the Principal Psychologist you will have responsibility for the supervision and management of a team of Assistant Psychologists providing assessments and psychological interventions for people referred to the service.

In addition to the usual terms and conditions MPFT is offering an additional payment, equivalent to 20% of your starting salary, paid in two instalments, when you join our team.

Main duties of the job

You will

  • supervise and support the assessment, formulation and treatment interventions provided by Assistant Psychologists
  • assess the suitability of people referred to the service for psychological interventions and provide decisions regarding suitability, in writing, to partner agencies
  • work closely with partner organisations to ensure that individuals are referred to the service and that processes are in place for sharing the outcome of assessments
  • contribute to service development initiatives by working with other Principal Psychologists in the wider team to evaluate service delivery and embed good practice across all the MHTR teams
