Applications are invited from existing Senior Nurse and Matrons from within the forensic services for the newly established role of Lead Nurse for Forensic Services.
Working in conjunction with other senior nursing staff and with the senior leadership team, the focus of the role will be to offer clinical and professional leadership to nursing staff within the forensic services. Additionally the post holder will support the Associate Chief Nurse for the Specialist Care Group in supporting and implementing the wider MPUFT nursing strategy.
We are looking for an individual who is dynamic, progressive and innovative with a passion for nursing. Past demonstrable experience of the management and clinical leadership is essential, as the role will provide specialist clinical advice and support to the operational teams. Additionally the successful applicant will need to understand the current health economy including provider collaborative and integrated care systems.
A vision for how things can be done differently is essential, as is a passion for making a positive contribution to improving the quality of life for individuals who use the service, their families and friends.
The post holder will be responsible for the nursing elements of transformation, nursing quality improvement activities and the nursing elements of programme delivery within the service.
Main duties of the job
The lead nurse will ensure that the voice of forensic patients and their families is inherent within professional practice development, service change and redesign, providing a specific view to ensure services within the care group remain family focused. You will enable an integration of mental health and physical health nursing across the service.
You will ensure the co-ordination of safe care in all services by acting as a specialist resource to colleagues within the nursing directorate. The role will provide nursing leadership and direction for specific work streams that will enable the forensic services to support the Trust in translating national policy/regulatory requirements within the organisation and the Specialist Care Group.
You will provide clinical oversight of strategic programmes that drive transformation and quality improvement in nursing practice. The role is responsible for the nursing elements of transformation, nursing quality improvement activities and programme delivery within the service whilst working closely with senior clinical colleagues to influence and inform the work programme. You will translate the Trust wide nursing agenda and strategic developments into the service and lead the communication and associated change requirements.
You will provide specialist advice related to nursing matters and will be responsible for supporting effective recruitment and performance management concerns relating to nursing within the service.
