Job summary

To lead and manage the capital and minor works schemes to provide a responsive and customer focused delivery to achieve outstanding standards of service delivery for new and refurbished accommodation. To have senior and professional responsibility for the effective, safe and compliant delivery of the services provided by the Capital Team.

The post is required to ensure that all elements of Capital Teams service are compliant with all mandatory and statutory standards, national and local targets and with the requirements of the CQC and other regulatory bodies. This includes ensuring that all Trust policies and procedures and health and safety requirements relating to the Capital team are in place.

Manage all capital and other delegated budgets to provide financial sustainability through increased efficiency and reduced cost.

The post holder will be required to deputise for the Associate Director (Hard FM) where appropriate and required.

This post is based in Stafford but the role is Trust wide (Shropshire and Stoke) with an expectation to support local and out of area partner contracts which will require nationwide Travel.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead and Manage Capital works to ensure all works meet statutory, mandatory and NHS This requires the formulation of the long term capital plans to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the Trust to ensure the efficient and safe environment is maintained across the Trust and Partners.
  • To be the professional lead for Capital and Minor works.
  • To support the Associate Director in the development and delivery of the annual and 5 year capital investment plans aligned to the Facilities and Estates Strategy as approved by the Trust Board.
  • To write and deliver to F&P Committee and Board capital business cases.
  • Day-to-day management of F&E Directorates Capital
  • Assist the Associate Director in ensuring the successful development of Hard FM strategy.
  • To provide professional estates advice as required enabling the Trust to plan for future capacity
  • To provide design and construction strategic advice as required enabling the Trust to plan for future capacity requirements as part of the long term
  • To undertake concept and feasibility studies and to enable operational directors to develop business cases for clinical expansions
  • To assess space utilisation of premises the Trust occupies and identify opportunities for efficiencies
