Job summary

12 month Secondment development opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and knowledge in an incredibly supportive and busy HR team environment supporting the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Care Group

Full time but open to discussions around part time hours and flexible working patterns.

Main duties of the job

  • You will provide human resources advice and guidance for a designated care group.
  • You will provide your managers with appropriate, support and guidance, to ensure the provision of a high quality and effective human resources service and practise in line with NHS national strategies
  • You will be responsible for specific areas of work within your designated Group and for the delivery of objectives within the HR or Care Group operational/business plans.

As our organisation grows so must our Human Resources team.

Our team will consist of the Head of HR and Deputy Head, Four Human Resource Managers, Seven Senior Human Resource Advisors, each line managing up to two Human Resource advisors.

Job responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Senior HR Advisor provide support to line managers on a range of operational Human Resource issues, ensuring that Trust policies and standards are adhered to. Key areas of activity will be as follows:

  1. To advise line managers on a range of employee relations issues in accordance with the Trusts HR policies. Such issues may be sensitive or contentious and the postholder will require influencing and persuasion skills to overcome resistance from employees and managers.
  2. To advise and support line managers in handling disciplinary cases, including participation in the investigation of cases as allocated by the Senior HR Advisor. To advise in disciplinary hearings, supporting the Case Investigator in the presentation of their investigation findings.
  3. To advise and support line managers in the resolution of grievances and to participate in hearing the first stages of the procedure, as allocated by the Senior HR Advisor. Complex cases will normally be managed by a more senior member of the human resources team.
  4. To support the Senior HR Advisor with Management of Change processes as required including the delivery of interview skills training.
