Ellesmere House is a low secure ward for adult men with a learning disability
The service offers a full multi-disciplinary approach to care and treatment.
The Occupational Therapy team is made up of an OT assistant and a support time recovery worker and you will be responsible for overseeing the allocation of their work and supervision.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing the Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions for the service.
You will use an Occupational Therapy model to inform your practice and where appropriate standardised assessment tools and outcome measures.
You will be supported by an Occupational Therapist assistant and a Support Time Recovery Worker, who you will also clinically supervise.
Youwill be part of an active AHP team in the forensic directorate made up of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapist and Dietetics and will have this network of experience and support to draw on.

- To ensure that all assessments regarding mental capacity, best interests and risk assessments are completed.
- To carry out assessments including gathering complex information from clients, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. This may include the use of specialist standardised and non-standardised assessment tools, verbal and non-verbal communication skills and observation of the client and their environment. It may also involve carrying out assessments jointly with other professionals.
- To contribute to the overall care plan using effective Occupational Therapy treatment programmes and negotiate and communicate these with the client, family, carers and other members of the treatment team.
