Job summary
This role facilitates the provision of quality nursing, Trainee Nursing Associates (TNA) and Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) clinical placements throughout the organisation and involves extensive networking and liaison with service providers and Higher Education Institutes. You will work as part of a team responsible for health care student placements throughout the organisation, take part in the annual monitoring processes and associated action plans for student support and placements and liaison with universities. Must be an NMC registrant.
Main duties of the job
Although the role in the main is non-clinical there is an expectation that support and guidance will be given to both students and clinical staff when issues arise. Clinical knowledge will be used to provide advice, leadership and direction when situations or problems occur, and in general day to day settings.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Facilitate the provision of quality clinical placements for all trainees including TNAs, pre-registration nurses, post registration nurses and pre-registration Allied Health Professional students, and to ensure that Higher Education Institutions make full use of these placement areas in order to increase the exposure to community experience for pre-registration students.
- Play an active role in curriculum development with HEIs in order to ensure local provision of courses fit for purpose of professional registration at degree and foundation degree level, pre-registration courses and specialist practice awards.
- Retain familiarity with the curricula of courses where students require placements, ensuring that these can meet the learning outcomes and assessment processes required. Ensure that pre and post-registration placements are mapped across the Trust and that placements are effectively co-ordinated for students and clinical staff.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of mechanisms to ensure the successful preparation, updating and support for all clinical supervisors and mentors.
- Contribute to the compliance with contractual obligations for student support and standards as outlined in the Learning Development Agreement; this includes collaboration with education and service providers to ensure learning environments are reviewed as required.
- Work with the Clinical Placement Quality Lead and key stakeholders and HEIs to develop new placement opportunities wherever possible, including non-traditional areas for students.
- With the Clinical Placement Quality Lead work with workforce planning leads, operational managers, and strategists to manage the sponsorship process for specialist practice and assistant practitioner awards. This will include budget tracking and participation in selection of students.
- Contribute to reports for Committees relating to student evaluations, and quality assurance of student placements.
- To make the team lead aware of any risks within a team and contribute to finding ways to mitigate them.
- To participate in the analysis of management information and contribute in improving team/individual performance.
- To contribute to projects and lead elements as appropriate.
- To engage in resolving conflicting priorities within a team and find effective solutions.
- To support the induction of new team members into the team and support throughout any local induction.
- To participate in meetings with universities about the quality and effectiveness of placements and to take effective action to address and improve any individual, systemic or process failures identified.
