Gynaecology Acute Treatment Unit (GATU)

GYNAECOLOGY SERIVCE

The Leeds NHS Trust is a leading provider of specialist womens health services in West Yorkshire, and places great emphasis upon maintaining a high level of patient care.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic nurse with experience in Gynaecology to join our team of Nurse Practitioners on our Gynaecology Acute Treatment Unit (GATU).

You will be expected to independently manage women as an autonomous practitioner, review assess and discharge where appropriate with follow up, and assist with the management of the unit as a member of the multidisciplinary team.

We are proud of our Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology Service and with the support of our dedicated Consultant Lead, we are focused to drive our specialist nursing services forward and would love to welcome a new Nurse Practitioner to our team with the same passion and drive to provide an excellent patient experience. Full training will be given and you will be required to complete the training within a year.

We are looking for a dynamic, extremely motivated, resourceful individuals capable of autonomous practices who is a registered general nurse with at least three years experience in gynaecology. You will have evidence of continuing professional development throughout your career.

JOB PURPOSE

The jobholder will demonstrate evidence based care in the independent assessment, clinical examination, planning of care, clinical decision making, diagnosis, treatment, evaluation, health promotion and safe discharge of specific client group within agreed protocols. The job holder will coordinate a multidisciplinary team of staff and implement nurse led care. They will participate in mentorship and teaching programmes for multi-disciplinary groups within the department. The jobholder will provide senior nursing support, advice and professional leadership to a group of patients within a clinical area.

The jobholder will take charge of the unit as required.

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1)
  • Teaching/assessing qualification
  • Evidence of Post graduate education or equivalent experience professional development
  • Recognised Nurse Practitioner qualification or evidence of completion of a competency based clinical assessment and examination of patients knowledge and skills package

Desirable

  • Non-medical prescribing qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience at staff nurse grade level or equivalent within specialty
  • Insight into clinical speciality
  • Insight into current issues in nursing/ professional issues
  • Standards of professional practice
  • Understanding of quality improvement practice
