Within
the Urgent Care Clinical Service Unit at St James University Hospital a
fantastic exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen. We are currently
looking for a dynamic self-motivated band 6 Senior Sisters/Charge Nurse to
join our team on the AAUs. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to
support the Matron and the Senior team to ensure expert high quality care is
delivered. The Acute Assessment Units (AAUs) are based on J27 and J28 at St
James University Hospital. J27 is a 30 bedded assessment unit with a 3 bedded
Medical High Observation Unit (HOBS) and J28 is 31 bedded. Across the units
we provide acute care to people under the age of 80 with all medical
conditions. We are a dedicated team who pride ourselves on the excellent care
we provide to all our patients. There would be opportunity for the successful
candidate to rotate into the High Observation Unit and access the training
and education to gain HOBs competencies.
We
are looking for knowledgeable, committed and resilient Nurses to help lead
and maintain our high standards, embed routine and manage the day to day care
of our patients within the unit. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals
to support the Matron and Senior Sister/Charge Nurses; if you have compassion
energy and a genuine dedication to patient care then wed like you to apply.

Main duties of the job
You
need to be a registered Adult nurse with a recognised teaching and assessing
qualification. The AAUs covers a 24 hour service and will therefore include
days, nights and weekends
You
will be required:
To take direct managerial
responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of or as delegated by the
Senior Sister/Charge Nurse
You will lead by example and
inspire best practice whilst supporting your team to provide excellent care
through the ethos of the Leeds Way Values
To support the band 7 to lead and
develop the team, ensuring professional development is maintained through
timely specific Appraisal identified needs.
To act as a clinical resource
within the Assessment Units
To act as a positive role model
The successful applicant will need
to demonstrate recent change management and implementation, a clear
understanding of Leeds Teaching Hospitals Key aims and objectives and a sound
understanding of workforce management.
To have an understanding of the
Emergency Care Standard (ECS) and assist the senior management team in
delivering this
To have a good understanding of
relevant local and national health agenda items

high level of timely care is delivered.
