Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen, we are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic individuals to join our team in the paediatric Emergency Department here at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust. This offers a fantastic opportunity for a Paediatric nurse with relevant experience in the emergency department as we are seeking to employ one permanent Band 6 and one band 6 in a six-month seconded role.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will help lead the further development of the Paediatric ED and you will be responsible for ensuring high quality nursing care with minors, majors and resus patients. You must possess good leadership skills, skills in change management, as well as excellent team working skills, good clinical knowledge and skills, but above all put the patient at the heart of everything you do.

We also pride ourselves in having a big focus on Safeguarding Children. As a part of your role you will be expected to undertake a multi-disciplinary approach to Safeguard children in our care, ensuring all safeguarding tasks have been completed and relevant cases discussed at our child protection meeting.

The post is to cover the 24 hour period and will therefore include day shifts, mid shifts, twilight shifts and nights over a 7 day period.

As a nurse with experience, the job holder will be expected to be able to co-ordinate and manage the paediatric emergency department, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times with the wider MDT. The job holder will provide support to members of staff both qualified and unqualified. The job holder will play a key role in triaging and assessing patients that come to the department, ensuring that their needs are met.

The jobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the nursing team and ensuring effective management of the ward/department in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.

he jobholder will manage and/or support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the day-to-day management of whole department ensuring patient and staff safety. They will manage a team of registered nurses, CSW/NN and PFCs ensuring regular 1-1s and communication with their team.
