Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trauma and Related Services CSU, within the Plastic Surgery department for a full time (37.5 hrs), permanent Medical Secretary based at Leeds General Infirmary. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone looking to expand their experience and knowledge.
We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and hard-working person who will be able to provide efficient and proactive secretarial and admin support to multiple consultants. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the theatre scheduling, in line with multiple referral to treatment targets for the consultants they look after. General secretarial duties will also include the typing of clinic letters, dealing with telephone enquiries and ensuring effective running of all clinics.
Main duties of the job
As an experienced Medical Secretary, you should possess excellent organisational skills and be used to working with senior colleagues in a complex, busy environment. In addition, you will be required to attend meetings including agreeing agendas and minute taking.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential. You must have experience and expertise in diary management, with excellent IT skills and a professional telephone manner. You will need to be able to demonstrate exceptional skills in customer care ensuring all matters relating to your work are dealt with in a sensitive and timely manner. You will need to be able to adapt and prioritise your workload and have the ability to work on your own initiative. An understanding of the need for confidentiality is essential.
Audio typing is a desirable requirement to undertake this varied and interesting role, along with a good standard of English. We offer support through a structured period of induction, and opportunities for professional development in a supportive environment.
