Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Childrens Orthopaedic Nurse Specialist team for 1 day a week on a Wednesday 10 hrs. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate nurse to join our team. Youll need strong communication and teamwork skills, with a passion for Childrens Orthopaedics. Previous orthopaedic experience is desirable, but this is not essential, training and education will be provided.
As a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will undertake and be responsible for the clinical management and co-ordination of high quality, safe care for patients with orthopaedic conditions and trauma patients. You will be responsible for contacting patients virtually as part of our Virtual Fracture clinic and giving advice. You will triage phone calls, see patients in nurse led clinics, manage safeguarding concerns and be supported by the Childrens Orthopaedic team. You will liaise regularly with other agencies in health, social care and education and work as part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload and will carry continuous responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. Excellent organisational and communication skills are key elements for this position together with a genuine compassion and commitment to care for children and families with Orthopaedic conditions.
The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources.
The job holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and whole service working. As a role model they will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care.
About us
We are a friendly Childrens Orthopaedic Team. We have 3 Nurse Specialists and a Senior Support Worker that supports 7 Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultants. We co-ordinate outpatient clinics and have nurse-led clinics looking after children with different Orthopaedic conditions. We undertake Virtual fracture clinics contacting families virtually and give advice and guidance on their injury. We support safeguarding cases and liaise with the multiprofessional team. We work closely with the Orthopaedic ward and families to ensure that safe care is delivered.
