An exciting secondment opportunity which will last 10 months has arisen for an experienced nurse in orthopaedics. We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse for the orthopaedic ward L9, which looks after both acute and elective patients who require surgical intervention.
We are looking for a senior nurse to join our team. You will need to be forward thinking, highly motivated, demonstrate strong leadership skills and be passionate about quality improvement.
This post will support the band 7 to lead, and to further enhance the team of nurses and other professionals within the orthopaedic ward. The ward is a busy, complex inpatient ward consisting of 26 mixed-sex beds. Key aspects of the role are focusing on the patient experience and patient safety, providing assurance that standards are met for every patient and to ensure the quality and development of the service.
Main duties of the job
This is a demanding and challenging role and we are looking for an individual who is committed to providing an excellent service to our patients, and ensure the ongoing health and wellbeing of our staff and leaners. The post holder will join four other Junior Sisters who will work collaboratively together to ensure the ward is ran smoothly day-to-day. The post holder will need to demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to embrace and drive forward change as part of the senior nursing team.
The successful candidate will have strong communication, organisational and team working skills and have experience of managing nursing teams and successfully implementing change. Considerable experience at Band 5 or above, a teaching qualification (or working towards), IT skills, and evidence of post registration development are essential. They will be involved in close working with the rest of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver patient centred care and will be committed to improving the patient experience through new ways of working.
