Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, efficient and conscientious

Database Support Officer, to work within the Trauma and Related Services.

The successful candidate will provide support to the CSU management, Medical and Nursing team in delivering key data requirements as part of the CSU contractual obligations both locally and nationally. This will include collecting, entering and retrieving data from various Trust and national web-based systems, in line with departmental guidelines. Specifically, this includes entering and retrieving data from various IT systems, in line with departmental and national guidelines.

Of specific importance for us within Vascular Surgery is uploading of data to our national vascular registry (NVR) and the national joint registry (NJR).

Main duties of the job

Successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high level of flexibility within their work, high attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly. Good organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work under pressure. The post holder will be expected to prioritise and undertake multiple tasks across both short, medium and longer timescales. The ability to work on their own initiative, but at the same time as an integral part of a team is essential

You will be joining a friendly and supportive team within the Trauma and Related Services CSU. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, and who is a strong team player. The successful candidate will find this a challenging and interesting role.

About us

Database Support Officer will provide support to the CSU management, medical and nursing team in delivering key data quality and assurance support as part of the CSU and Trust contractual obligations. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and processing any relevant documentation appropriately, within departmental and national guidelines.

Job responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Assist in the delivery of excellent sn/atandards of data & information quality and support specific programmes of work

Accurate and timely input of datasets that will contribute to national databases.

To provide an efficient and courteous service to those Departments and staff accessing the administrative team

Organising and prioritising workload based on the needs of the service

Provide and receive routine information requiring tact or persuasive skills

To be fully conversant with and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, Trust Policies and agreed departmental procedures

Setting up, maintaining and monitoring of systems and processes, liaising with other members of the team as appropriate

Using, updating systems, producing reports and statistics for the team and for wider distribution on a regular and ad hoc basis

Supporting and occasionally leading specific project work-streams

Preparation of documentation for use by the team and wider organisation this may include drawing up Standard Operating Procedures

Compilation of project documentation highlight reports, risk and issues logs, impact assessments etc.

Assist in analysing complex data, identify data and information quality issues

Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy within tight deadlines

Maintain and update departmental databases, prioritising within departmental guidelines and escalating unresolved situations/issues to appropriate line manager

Concentrate for prolonged periods and remains focused, whilst maintaining a friendly customer centre approach

Answer general enquiries and requests

Provides basic advice and training in the use of databases and other project data reports to groups of users

To ensure that requests for information are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner

Implement and work in accordance to relevant policies within the work environment

Follow Departmental/Trust disposal and destruction procedures of confidential documentation, in line with Data Protection Act and Confidentiality

Assist in the development and compilation of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Assisting to maintain high standards of care, including:

- Maintain a safe working environment, reporting incidents, accidents, complaints

- Understand the need to maintain and respect patient confidentiality

- Participate in in-service training

- Participate in mandatory training annually

- Participate in annual performance appraisal

Visit and/or work at other designated Trust sites as required ensuring continuity of service

General office work and any other duties assigned by Line Management

The post holder will provide high quality database support to assist in ensuring that the Trust meets all statutory and non- statutory requirements in relation to data feeds and submissions from a quality perspective

  • Educated to GCSE English Language and Mathematics Minimum Grade C or equivalent
  • Need to be able to demonstrate high level competence and use of a number of DATABASES - Excel, Access.
  • Willing to undergo training as required.
  • Ability to train system users on processes/procedures

Desirable

  • UKCHIP certified
  • NVQ2 or Equivalent
  • Training Experience
  • ECDL or equivalent
