This
is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and successful Teaching
Hospitals in the UK with an international reputation and tradition of
innovation.
As
a dedicated well established theatre suite, we consist of 4 theatres for a
variety of specialties including Thoracic, Gynae Oncology, HPB and upper GI. We
also carry out Robotic surgery in these specialities.
The
successful candidate will be a Registered Practitioner (ODP / RN). Candidates
should have broad based operating theatre experience, ideally including
knowledge of the clinical specialty, with a keen eye on developments within the
service. The successful candidate will demonstrate Leeds Way values and work in

standards of harm free care which is patient centred and fair to all
stakeholders. The successful candidate will manage a diverse team of
thirty-five theatre practitioners.

Main duties of the job
The
Team Leader will support the Matron in the delivery of theatre objectives and
will be responsible and accountable for managing capacity and staffing
resources over the 24-hour period. The role will be 70% non-clinical
management and 30% clinical management. The Jobholder will carry 24 hour
continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the
Theatre(s) and provide management and professional leadership for the
peri-operative team. As a team leader you will continue to maintain clinical
practice and there may be some requirement for weekend working if needed.
The jobholder is responsible for ensuring
the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and
evaluation of programmes of care are maintained to a high standard. The job
holder will manage the administrative and financial aspects of the Theatre(s)
and will ensure cost effective use of resources and deployment of staff.
Current services comprise four operating theatres. The role requires direct
management of approximately 35 whole time equivalent Peri-operative
Practitioners and support staff. The jobholder is responsible for the
department clinical budget
